On Tuesday, 7.30pm I think, Prime TV, there's 'The Recruits' showing. I don't know if it's new of whether this is the old one.

Re: Police college tv show
The program on Prime is an Aussie program, it's quite interesting, but also would seem to be dramatised a bit. Their physical standards seem a bit lower than here in NZ from what we see on TV, but their training is longer (9 months)...

It also looks as though they don't have to do a fitness test prior to being accepted into training. I find it crazy that chap couldn't even run 1Km withought throwing up.
I think NZ has one of the tougher fitness tests around. UK looks very easy (5.1 on beep test, 15M shuttles)

aussie does have lower than nz they base it on a A B C D E pass rate and need to be able to get a C to be able to pass college, they do the beep test at a lower standard then NZ. they also have the same pass rate for push ups etc

That is the NSW Police and is conducted through Goulborn University, and you dont get paid during training, as a matter of fact, I think it costs you.

I understood that you do get paid when training...? From the Newcops site:
paid training—new recruits earn an income of $34,272
gross per annum (total package $37,971) while attending the Royal New
Zealand Police College

The New Zealand police does pay a salary of $37,971 when training, however K.A.L is referring to the NSW police.
And K.A.L is correct in stating that the NSW police receive no salary while at college, and in fact need to pay around $10,000 to recieve there training before being hired.

Re: Police college tv show
I sent a letter to Katrina about two weeks ago about obtaining a copy of the show. However i received a letter back today stating that she is on LWOP for until this time next year. The police library does have copies, however the training officers at college have requested that they don't lend them to recruits.
Does anyone have a copy i could borrow? Their is a $20 petrol voucher in it for anyone that can help.
Cheers

This is off topic, but you just sparked a question in my head.
Do police officers get fuel cards to fill patrol cars with? Or how does getting petrol work??
