Ive been told that still some files are declined by the panel as the final decision is made by them. Obviously the applicant must have passed all the other prerequisites along the way to have their file get to that stage I'm just wondering if this has happened to anyone or if it happens often?

Hi guys, Once I have applied for the Police I am thinking of joining the Army to pass the time before being accepted (If I get accepted), as from reading a lot of your posts can take up to and in excess of 5 years time.

I have been told however that the Police are very reluctant to accept ex-soldiers into the force. Is this true?? And do you know of any reasons why this is?

Any input would be appreciated!

Run 1.5 Miles in 10 Minutes

Breaking the 10-minute mark for a mile and a half isn't just a sign that you can outrun the feds. It's also an indicator of peak aerobic capacity—your body's ability to deliver oxygen to your working muscles. Regular aerobic exercise lowers your cholesterol and helps keep your body fat low—both of which ...

Hi all,

So glad I came across this forum, I think it will be useful! I've just put in my application for the Police, after a bit of thought and a bit of pushing from my ambo friend. Currently, as is every hopeful, I am training hard to top up my fitness.

I used to be a volunteer firefighter, so I'm hoping that will put me in good stead for my application. I've definitely missed the camaraderie and challenges since leaving the brigade.

Looking forward to interacting with you all as ...

Hi everyone.

As stated in my profile (to the left of this post, in fact), I'm a web developer. What I didn't write was that I'm also an assistant chef at a local restaurant. So it's obvious that when the boss wanted a new website, he asked me.

Now, I'm asking anyone who's interested to visit the new website - http://cafe51.co.nz/dev/ and view all the pages. Please be aware that the content on the 'about' page has been taken off the old website and is worded horribly, so will be changed. ...

Just wanted to introduce myself, Ive been reading this forum for ages and for some reason have never registered.

I'm hoping to be able to re- apply for the police at the end of the year.

I had applied about 18 months ago but had to wait for a few demerit points to expire (nothing major just silly stuff from when I was a bit younger not driving with L plates).

And also waiting a bit longer to make sure an old back injury doesn't come back to haunt me, not that it should be a problem ...

I have a few questions about the reference check the police will perform before

your sent to college. Firstly, the recruitment website states that they will talk to between 3 to 6 appointed referees. Being only 21 years old, I only have two employers and a rugby coach who would make good referees. In your experiences, how many referees did you nominate and what was the relationship between you and them?

Secondly, when in the recruitment process will they ask you to nominate ...

I know I'd be a great cop. What shocked me was the recruiters suggesting there is a need for a small number of my age group to balance the ranks!
